2024年夏季オリンピック[a]は、正式には第33回オリンピック競技大会[b]で、パリ2024の名称で呼ばれ、 2024年7月26日から8月11日までフランスで開催された国際多種目競技大会であり、いくつかの競技は7月24日から開始された。開催都市はパリで、競技(主にサッカー)はフランス本土の16都市で開催された。これには、地中海に面したフランス第2の都市マルセイユのセーリングセンターや、フランス領ポリネシアのタヒチにあるサーフィンのサブサイトも含まれていた。[4]
2017年9月13日、ペルーのリマで開催された第131回IOC総会で、パリがオリンピック開催地に選ばれた。度重なる撤退により、候補に残ったのはパリとロサンゼルスのみとなったが、国際オリンピック委員会(IOC )は、残った2つの候補都市に2024年と2028年の夏季オリンピックを同時に開催地として与えるプロセスを承認した。両候補とも、高度な技術計画と、記録的な数の既存および仮設施設を活用する革新的な方法が高く評価された。パリは1900年と1924年に開催しており、夏季オリンピックを3回開催した史上2番目の都市となった(1908年、1948年、2012年に開催したロンドンに次ぐ)。[5] [6]パリ2024は、1924年のパリ大会と1924年のシャモニー大会(最初の冬季オリンピック)の100周年に当たるとともに、フランスが開催する6回目のオリンピック(夏季オリンピック3回、冬季オリンピック3回)であり、 1992年のアルベールビル冬季オリンピック以来の初の開催となる。 2020年大会はCOVID-19パンデミックにより2021年に延期された後、夏季オリンピックは従来の4年周期のオリンピックとなった。
パリ2024では、ブレイキンがオリンピック競技として初めて採用され[7] 、トーマス・バッハIOC会長時代に開催された最後のオリンピックとなった。[8] 2024年大会の費用は90億ユーロと予想された。[9] [10] [11]開会式は近代オリンピック史上初めてスタジアムの外で開催され、選手たちはセーヌ川沿いを船でパレードした。パリ2024は、競技場で男女の選手数が同数となり、史上初の完全な男女平等を達成したオリンピックとなった。[12]
アメリカは金メダル40個、合計126個のメダルを獲得し、4大会連続、 19回目の夏季オリンピックでメダル獲得数トップとなった。 [13]中国は金メダル(40)でアメリカと並んだが、銀メダルが少なかったため2位となった。総獲得メダル数は91個だった。夏季オリンピック史上、最も成功した2か国の間で金メダルが並んだのはこれが初めてである。[14]日本は金メダル20個で3位、総メダル数6位となった。オーストラリアは金メダル18個で4位、総メダル数5位となった。開催国のフランスは金メダル16個、合計メダル64個で5位、総メダル数4位となった。ドミニカ、セントルシア、カーボベルデ、アルバニアは初のオリンピックメダルを獲得し、前者2つはともに金メダル大会終了時には、政治、ロジスティクス、選手村の状況などに関する論争があったにもかかわらず、報道機関、パリ市民、観客からは大会は成功だったと評価された。 [c]パリオリンピックはチケット販売の過去最高記録を更新し、950万枚以上のチケットが販売された(パラリンピックを含めると1210万枚)。[15]

パリは1900年と1924年のオリンピックを開催したが、1992年のオリンピックに立候補したものの失敗し、バルセロナに授与されるまで、再びオリンピックを開催しようとはしなかった。その後の2008年と2012年のオリンピックの立候補も失敗し、それぞれ北京とロンドンに授与された。パリはひるむことなく、前回のオリンピックから100周年を迎える2024年大会に再度立候補することを決めた。
立候補した都市は、パリ、ハンブルク、ボストン、ブダペスト、ローマ、ロサンゼルスの6都市だった。立候補の取り下げ、政情不安、費用の高騰により、入札プロセスは遅れをとった。ボストンは、ロサンゼルス、サンフランシスコ、ワシントンDCを上回り、米国の公式入札に選ばれた。2015年7月27日、ボストンとUSOCは、市民の複雑な感情もあって、ボストンのオリンピック開催入札を取り下げることで合意した。ハンブルクは、国民投票を行った後、2015年11月29日に入札を取り下げた。[16]ローマは、財政難を理由に、2016年9月21日に撤退した。[17]ブダペストは、入札反対の請願書が国民投票に必要な署名数を超えたため、2017年2月22日に撤退した。[18] [19] [20]
これらの撤退を受けて、IOC理事会は2017年6月9日にスイスのローザンヌで会合を開き、2024年と2028年の招致プロセスについて議論した。[21] [22]国際オリンピック委員会は、2024年と2028年のオリンピック開催都市を同時に選出することを正式に提案し、この提案は2017年7月11日にローザンヌで開催されたIOC臨時総会で承認された。[22] IOCは、LA2024とパリ2024の招致委員会がIOCと会合し、2024年と2028年にどの都市でオリンピックを開催するか、また、両方の開催都市を同時に選定することが可能かどうかを議論するプロセスを設定した。[23]
2つのオリンピックを同時に開催するという決定を受けて、パリが2024年の開催地として有力視された。2017年7月31日、IOCはロサンゼルスを2028年の唯一の候補地として発表し、[24] [25]パリが2024年の開催地として確定した。両決定は2017年9月13日の第131回IOC総会で承認された。 [26]

会場
オリンピック競技のほとんどはパリ市とその首都圏で開催され、近隣のサン=ドニ、ル・ブルジェ、ナンテール、ヴェルサイユ、ヴェール=シュル=マルヌなどの都市も含まれていた。[29] [30]
バスケットボールの予選とハンドボールの決勝は、開催都市パリから225km (140マイル)離れたリールで開催されました。セーリングとサッカーの試合の一部は、パリから777km (483マイル)離れた地中海都市マルセイユで開催されました。一方、サーフィン競技は、パリから15,716km (9,765マイル)離れたフランス領ポリネシア、タヒチの海外領土にあるテアウポ村で開催されました。サッカーはさらに、ボルドー、デシーヌ=シャルピュー(リヨン)、ナント、ニース、サンテティエンヌの5都市でも開催され、これらの都市のいくつかはリーグ・アンのクラブの本拠地となっています。

メダル

パリ2024オリンピック組織委員会のトニー・エスタンゲ会長は、2024年2月にオリンピックとパラリンピックのメダルを発表した。その表面には、エッフェル塔の建設当初からあった六角形の鉄くずトークンが埋め込まれており、オリンピックのロゴが刻まれている。[41]約5,084枚のメダルはフランスの造幣局 であるパリ造幣局によって製造され、パリを拠点とする高級宝飾品会社ショーメによってデザインされた。 [42]
メダルの裏面には、 1896年に最初の近代オリンピックが開催されたパナシナイコ競技場の中にいるギリシャの勝利の女神ニケが描かれている。また、メダルの両面の背景にはパルテノン神殿とエッフェル塔も見える。[43]各メダルの重さは455~529 g(16~19 oz)、直径は85 mm(3.3 in)、厚さは9.2 mm(0.36 in)である。[44]金メダルは98.8%の銀と1.13%の金で作られており、銅メダルは銅、亜鉛、錫でできている。[45]
安全

食べ物

オリンピックのための交通改善には5億ユーロ以上が投資されており、[110]パリメトロの延伸や60キロメートル(37マイル)の新しい自転車レーンの建設などがある。[111] [112]オリンピック期間中、パリを訪れる人は公共交通機関の料金が以前の2.15ユーロから4ユーロに値上がりする。これにより、オリンピック期間中の公共交通機関の運行頻度と運行時間が増加し、平均15%のサービス増加が見込まれる。[110] [113]前回のオリンピックと同様に、選手、役員、メディアの確実な移動時間を確保するために185キロメートル(115マイル)の専用車線が使用される。[114]
ボランティア

前回のオリンピックからのメダルの再配分
セレブレーションに加えて、チャンピオンズパークは、 2000年まで遡る過去のオリンピックのメダル再配分式も開催する予定だった。新しいIOCの規則とプロトコルにより、2022年北京冬季オリンピックのフィギュアスケート団体戦のメダル再配分式が8月7日に1回行われた。これは、当初の金メダリストであるロシアのカミラ・ワリエワが2021年にトリメタジジンの検査で陽性反応を示したことが報告され、その後確認されたことを受けて延期された最初のオリンピックメダル式だった。2024年1月、スポーツ仲裁裁判所は、アンチ・ドーピング規則違反により、2021年12月25日まで遡って4年間のワリエワ失格処分とし、その後、国際スケート連盟はワリエワの得点を減点し、米国と日本をそれぞれ金メダルと銀メダルに引き上げた。

エンブレム
