概要
天文学と天体物理学
GECAM A および B 衛星は12 月 9 日に打ち上げられました。これらは重力波の電磁波対応の研究のために建造されました。
太陽系の探査
2020年には、2台の探査車、2台の周回機、着陸機を含む3つの火星ミッションが開始された。NASA は、火星2020ミッションを開始した。これには、パーサヴィアランス探査車とインジェニュイティヘリコプターが含まれており、最終的に地球に持ち帰るためのサンプルを保管する予定である。[1]中国国家航天局(CNSA)は、周回機、着陸機、小型探査車、一連の展開式遠隔カメラを含む天問1号ミッションを開始した。 [2]これは、中国が独自の輸送手段を使用して他の惑星に向かった最初のミッションである。 [1]最後に、アラブ首長国連邦は、アメリカの大学と提携して、日本のロケットでホープ火星ミッションの周回機を打ち上げた。[1]

NASAのOSIRIS-RExミッションは、地球に持ち帰るための表面サンプルを採取するために、10月に小惑星101955ベンヌに着陸した。JAXAのはやぶさ2ミッションは、2020年12月5日に162173リュウグウのサンプルを地球に持ち帰り、再突入機はオーストラリアのウーメラで回収された。[5]
太陽物理学
1つの太陽ミッションが打ち上げられました。ESAのソーラーオービターは2020年2月10日に打ち上げられ、太陽の太陽圏を研究することを目的としていました。[6] 2018年に打ち上げられたパーカーソーラープローブは、太陽までの最小距離をさらに1420万kmに短縮しました。[7]
地球科学衛星
ESAのSentinel-6海洋地形測定衛星が11月21日に打ち上げられた。
地球の大気圏における一時的な現象を研究するために計画されていた TARANIS衛星の打ち上げは11月17日に失敗した。
有人宇宙飛行
アメリカでは、スペースXのドラゴン2宇宙船が、商業乗員プログラムの一環として、2020年5月31日に国際宇宙ステーションへの初の有人飛行を行い、[8] 2011年のスペースシャトル退役以来初めてアメリカの有人軌道宇宙飛行能力を実現した。ドラゴン2は、人間を地球周回軌道に飛ばした最初の商業システムとなった。2回目の有人ドラゴンミッションであり、初の運用ミッションであるクルー1は、2020年11月15日に打ち上げられた。[9]
中国は2020年5月に次世代有人宇宙船の無人飛行試験を実施し[10] 、2021年の中国宇宙ステーションの天河コアキャビンモジュールの打ち上げに向けて準備を継続している[11]。
NASAの宇宙飛行士クリスティーナ・コックは、 2020年2月6日に終了した328日間の宇宙飛行という女性記録を樹立した。フランシスコ・ルビオは370日間のアメリカ史上最長記録を保持している。現在も記録を保持している宇宙飛行士ヴァレリー・ポリャコフは、437日間の宇宙飛行記録を持っていたが、2022年に亡くなった。コックは、2019年10月18日にジェシカ・メイアとともに女性のみによる初の宇宙遊泳にも参加した。 [12]
ロケットの革新
スペースXは、完全に再利用可能な2段式軌道投入型宇宙船スターシップの試作機で3回の大気圏内試験飛行を行った。[13] [14]
アクセスコストの削減傾向は継続し、2020年にはいくつかのロケットが初飛行を行った。競争の激化にもかかわらず、ISSへの貨物輸送コストは上昇した。[15]
衛星イノベーション
SpaceXは2020年後半にStarlink衛星群の運用を開始した。[16] 2020年12月2日現在、955機の衛星が打ち上げられており、Starlinkはパブリックベータテスト段階にある。OneWebも2020年にサービスを開始する予定だったが[17] 、 74機の衛星を打ち上げた後、2020年3月に破産申請した。[18] OneWebは破産から脱却し、2020年12月に打ち上げを再開する予定である。[19]
ミッション延長ビークル MEV-1は、インテルサット901(I-901)衛星の寿命を延ばす5年間のミッションの第一段階を完了し、軌道上で別の衛星を整備した初の遠隔ロボット操作宇宙船となった。2020年2月、MEV-1は数か月前に墓場軌道に移動されていた通信衛星を捕捉した。2020年4月、MEV-1はインテルサット901を静止軌道に戻すことに成功し、今後さらに5年間運用される予定である。これは宇宙産業初の試みであり、それまで衛星整備は2000年代初頭のハッブル宇宙望遠鏡の整備ミッションの際、軌道上での有人支援によってのみ行われていた。[20]
