マリアーノ・ポンセ・イ・コランテス(スペイン語: [ maɾjˈano pˈonθe ] ; 1863 年 3 月 22 日 – 1918 年 5 月 23 日)は、単にマリアーノ・ポンセとして知られ、フィリピンの医師、作家、政治家、プロパガンダ運動の積極的なメンバーでした。スペインでは、ラ・ソリダリダード(英語:The Solidarity)およびイスパノ・フィリピン協会(英語:Hispano-Filipino Association / Hispanic-Filipino Association)の創設者の一人でした。彼の重要な著作の中には、『La Oceania Española』 (英語:スペイン語オセアニア/スパニッシュ・オーシャン; 1892–1893)および『El Ideal』(英語: The Ideal ; 1911–1912)に掲載された、フィリピンの歴史的出来事に関するコラム『 Efemerides Filipinas 』があります。彼は『Ang Wika at Lahi』(英語:言語と人種、1917年)を執筆し、国語の重要性について論じた。また、1909年から1912年までブラカン州代表としてフィリピン議会に出席した。

ポンセは1896年8月に革命が勃発した際に投獄され、48時間後に釈放された。再逮捕を恐れた彼はフランスに逃亡し、その後香港へ渡った。香港では、フィリピン革命の国際的な戦線として活動していたフィリピン人や中国系フィリピン人のグループに加わった。

Mariano returned to Manila with his wife, a Japanese girl named Okiyo Udanwara (or Udagawa).[5] In 1909, he was made director of "El Renacimiento". He joined the Partido Nacionalista (Nationalist Party) and established "El Ideal", the party's official organization. Ponce later ran for a seat in the Philippine Assembly and was elected assemblyman for the second district of Bulacan in 1909. He served for one term until 1912.

Ponce wrote his memoirs, "Cartas Sobre La Revolución" (Letters on the Revolution). He died in the Government Civil Hospital in Hong Kong, on May 23, 1918. His remains were originally interred in the Cementerio del Norte, Manila.[1] According to local historian Rolando Villacorte, his remains were transferred to the Art Deco Ponce family mausoleum in Baliwag Catholic Cemetery. There, he is interred alongside his wife, brother Jacinto, daughter Maria, and grandson Marianito Ponce Gonzales.
On May 23, 2019, the National Historical Commission of the Philippines opened the Museo ni Mariano Ponce at the Ponce property in Baliwag, Bulacan.[6]
Although not a popular national hero, there are a few books, films and TV segments that feature Mariano Ponce, his life, and his contribution to society.
