メイブン（カーシェアリング）

Mavenは、ゼネラルモーターズ（GM）が2016年に開始したカーシェアリングサービスです。個人利用向けのカーシェアリングやピアツーピアのカーシェアリングなどのサービスを提供するとともに、 UberやLyftといったギグエコノミーのドライバーにも車両を貸し出していました。米国、カナダ、オーストラリアの一部の都市で事業を展開していましたが、2020年に事業を停止しました。

Mavenは2016年1月に発表され、自動車版AirBnBと呼ばれている。^{[ 2 ]}発売当時、Mavenのチームは40人だった。^{[ 3 ]}その前年、GMはLyftやUberに太刀打ちできなかった当時倒産していたSidecarの資産を買収した。^{[ 4 ]}

Mavenはミシガン大学アナーバー校でパイロットプログラムとして開始され、数週間後に他の都市にも拡大した。^{[ 5 ]} 2017年8月、Mavenはロサンゼルスの南カリフォルニア大学の独占カーシェアリングパートナーに決定した。 ^{[ 6 ]}また、MavenはUber、Lyft、Uber Eatsなどのギグエコノミーで働く人々向けのレンタルサービスであるMaven Gigも開始した。^{[ 7 ]}

2018年までに、Mavenは19万人の会員を獲得し、米国全土の主要都市に事業を拡大しました。^{[ 8 ]}また、オーストラリア市場にも参入し、当初はギグエコノミーのレンタルサービスを提供していましたが、その後、個人向けカーシェアリングサービスを追加しました。^{[ 9 ]} 2019年5月時点で、北米の17都市で事業を展開していました。^{[ 10 ]} GMによる市場分析に基づき、2019年に一部の都市から撤退し、^{[ 11 ]}需要と成長が最も高い都市に注力すると発表しました。^{[ 10 ]}また、2019年にはEVgoと提携し、Mavenの電気自動車のユーザー向けに急速充電ステーションを提供しました。^{[ 12 ]} 2020年4月21日、GMはMavenの事業停止計画を発表しました。^{[ 13 ]}

Maven provided car sharing services, including car sharing for personal use and rentals for drivers of gig economy professions such as Uber and Lyft. It used an app for people to search for and book rentals. It is also used to control certain features of the car such as remote start and unlocking of doors.^[10]

Unlike traditional rental car agencies, all Maven vehicles were connected by the General Motors-owned OnStartelematics service, which allowed borrowers to use the service to contact roadside assistance, receive directions to the vehicle's infotainment system, and perform remote services via the Maven app, such as unlocking, locking, and locating the vehicle on a map. Most vehicles also included complimentary SiriusXMSatellite Radio service. ^[14] Maven offered three main vehicle classes, consisting of Small Cars (such as the Chevrolet Spark, Chevrolet Sonic, Chevrolet Cruze, and Chevrolet Volt), Large Cars (such as the Buick Regal, Cadillac ATS, Chevrolet Impala, and Chevrolet Malibu), and SUV's (such as the Cadillac Escalade, Chevrolet Equinox, Chevrolet Tahoe, and Chevrolet Trax).

Maven also allowed individual owners of General Motors vehicles to share their cars by the hour or daily through a peer-to-peer car sharing service.^[15] Owners received sixty percent of the rental cost and also received liability insurance. Vehicles had to be newer model GM vehicles and go through an on-boarding process which included installation of a keyless entry system.^[15]

Maven Gig was launched in 2017 and rented vehicles to people who worked in the gig economy such as drivers of Uber, Lyft, and Uber Eats.^[7]
