共同発行

共同発行とは、 2つ以上の国が同じテーマ、出来事、または人物を記念して切手や郵便用品を発行することです。共同発行は通常、発行初日が同じで、国名と額面を除けばデザインは似ているか、あるいは同一であることが多いです。

• ヨーロッパ切手 ：1956年から1973年にかけて、ヨーロッパ諸国の郵便当局は共通のデザインの切手を発行していましたが、1974年以降は毎年発行される切手に共通のテーマが用いられています。これらはデザインや発行日が同じではないため、厳密には共同発行とは言えません。

• 1914年の平和記念切手：1914年、イギリス、カナダ自治領、アメリカ合衆国は、1812年の米英戦争終結以来100年間続いた英米間の平和を記念して、それぞれが同年中に独自の切手シリーズを発行するという計画に合意した。しかし、同年後半に第一次世界大戦が勃発すると、イギリスとカナダは平和切手を発行するのは不適切であると判断し、この計画から撤退した。アメリカ合衆国は既に2セント切手と5セント切手の試作品を制作していたが、それ以上のデザイン計画は中止した。（各国がそれぞれ個別に切手をデザインすることになるため、これは真の意味での共同発行とは言えなかっただろう。）
