これまで開発された月面模擬物質のほとんどは、NASA以外ではもはや製造も配布もされていません。Zybek Advanced Products、ORBITEC、Deep Space Industriesなど、複数の企業が営利目的で月面模擬物質の販売を試みましたが、いずれも大きな成功を収めていません。NASAは模擬物質を販売したり、無制限に無償で配布したりすることはできませんが、助成金受賞者に対して一定量の模擬物質を提供することは可能です。
