モンテゴベイ教区

モンテゴベイ・ローマカトリック教区（ラテン語: Dioecesis Sinus Sereni）は、ジャマイカ島（大アンティル諸島） の北西部に位置するローマカトリック教会のラテン語の属司教区であり、キングストン大司教区（ジャマイカ全土、ケイマン諸島、ベリーズを管轄）のカリブ海教区に属しているが、宣教活動を行うローマ教皇庁福音宣教省の管轄下にある。

その司教座は、モンテゴ・ベイの聖体大聖堂（聖ジェームズ（行政）教区）にある。フランシスコ教皇は、2013年4月11日にキングストン大司教区のバーチェル・アレクサンダー・マクファーソンをモンテゴ・ベイの第3代司教に任命した。彼は2013年6月8日にモンテゴ・ベイの聖体大聖堂で聖別され、着座した。

この教区は、ジャマイカおよびケイマン諸島聖公会教区のモンテゴベイ聖公会主教が管轄する同名の属司教区とは別個のものである。^{[ 1 ]}

• 1967年9月14日、教皇パウロ6世により、キングストン教区から分離された領域にモンテゴベイ教区（Dioecesis Sinus Sereni）として、同教区の属教区として設立された。
• 1991年4月15日に領土を失い、当時マンデヴィル使徒座代理区を設立したが、現在はキングストンの属司教区でもある。^{[ 2 ]}

• エジャートン・ローランド・クラーク（1967年9月14日 - 1994年11月11日）、ジャマイカのキングストン大司教（1994年11月11日 - 2004年2月17日退任）、アンティル司教協議会会長（1997年 - 2003年） - 教皇パウロ6世はエジャートン・ローランド・クラークをモンテゴベイの初代司教に選任した。クラークは1929年に生まれ、モンテゴベイ教区の発足時に司教に叙任された。^{[ 3 ]}
• Charles Henry Dufour (6 December 1995 – 11 April 2013), also Apostolic Administrator of Mandeville (Jamaica) (2006.08.08 – 2008.05.20); later Metropolitan Archbishop of Kingston (Jamaica) (2011.04.15 – resigned 2016.04.29), again Apostolic Administrator of above Mandeville (2016.04.29 – ...) - Pope John Paul II elected Charles H. Dufour who was born in Kingston on April 15, 1940. He was ordained a priest in August 1970, and then went on to be appointed bishop and consecrated on Feb. 10, 1996 at the Blessed Sacrament Cathedral in Montego Bay.^[3]

As per 2014, it pastorally served 10,000 Catholics (1.5% of 647,600 total) on 3,878 km² in 10 parishes and 22 missions with 12 priests (9 diocesan, 3 religious), 12 deacons, 16 lay religious (6 brothers, 10 sisters) and 1 seminarian.^[2]

The diocese of Montego Bay is made up of five administrative parishes: St. James, Trelawny, St. Ann, Westmoreland and Hanover.

Of the three Roman Catholic dioceses in Jamaica, the diocese of Montego Bay is the largest in land area spanning 1,500 sq. miles.
