調査委員会（アイルランド）

アイルランド共和国では、調査委員会は、 2004 年調査委員会法に基づいて設立された法定委員会であり、「緊急の公共の関心事」を調査する。^{[ 1 ]}^{[ 2 ]}調査委員会は、調査委員会よりも費用は安いが権限は弱い代替手段である。^{[ 1 ]}^{[ 3 ]}調査委員会は非公開で証拠を収集できるが、調査委員会は公開で開催される。2017 年、フィナ・ゲール党主導の政府は、ガーダの内部告発スキャンダルに関する委員会の委員長をピーター・チャールトンに任せることを計画したが、^[⁴^]^[⁵^]野党の要求により、これを調査委員会に変更した。^[⁶^]

児童虐待調査委員会は、 2000年にオイレアハタスの特定の法律によって設立され、^[⁷^]その後、その運営を修正するための法律がさらに可決された。^[⁸^] 2004年調査委員会法は、オイレアハタスの両院の決議後、法定文書によって、より簡単に他の委員会を設立できるようにするためのひな形を提供することを目的としていた。
