The Cape Canaveral Space Force Museum (formerly the Air Force Space and Missile Museum) is located at Launch Complex 26 at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station, Florida. It includes artifacts from the early American space program and includes an outdoor area displaying rockets, missiles, and space-related equipment chronicling the space and missile history of the US Air Force, the US Space Force and other military branches.[1]
The museum is accessible to U.S. citizens and residents only as a part of five tours offered by Canaveral Tours.[2][3] Free tours are also offered by Space Launch Delta 45 as part of the Cape Canaveral Space Force Station Historical Tour.[4]Space Launch Delta 45 was formed out of the 45th Space Wing in May 2021 following establishment of the Space Force.
The Sands Space History Center, a companion to the museum, is open to the general public six days a week. The History Center is located just outside the south gate of Cape Canaveral Air Force Station.[2]
A part of the first stage of a Titan rocket was transferred to the museum in 2023.[5]
The Sands Space History Center (formerly known as the United States Air Force Space and Missile History Center) is an extension of the Air Force Space and Missile Museum outside the gate 1 of the Cape Canaveral Space Force Station which opened to the public August 14, 2010. It is located in a 3,200-square-foot (300 m2) facility and highlights the progress and history of the space program.[6] The museum features displays which chronicle the story of each of the launch pads from its establishment in 1949 as the Joint Long Range Proving Ground.[7] Exhibits contain artifacts dating back to the 1950s and include parts to launch vehicles and control systems.[6]

博物館の初期の歴史では、博物館のミサイルの多くは「ロケットガーデン」として知られる屋外エリアに展示されていました。長年にわたり、フロリダ中央部の暑さ、湿気、そして海風によって、展示物のほとんどの外観と内部構造が徐々に劣化していきました。ミサイルは屋外展示から撤去され、修復されました。[ 11 ]その後、適切な展示場所が見つかるまで保管されました。最終的に、歴史的な格納庫Cが将来の一般公開エリアとして確保されました。ケープで最も古い格納庫（格納庫AとBはパトリック宇宙軍基地に建設されました）は、しばらくの間、ケープのほぼすべての打ち上げ活動の中央ミサイル組み立て施設として機能していました。格納庫Cが博物館の大型展示物の中央展示エリアとして機能することが決定すると、一般公開に適したものにするために大規模な改修が行われました。2020年初頭、ケネディ宇宙センタービジターコンプレックスが実施する一般向けツアーは、新たに導入された「宇宙への飛躍」ツアー（「初期宇宙」ツアーとは別個のもの）の一部として、格納庫Cに立ち寄るようになりました。
