アカデミー賞衣装デザイン賞は、映画芸術科学アカデミー（AMPAS）が毎年映画の衣装デザインの功績を称えて授与するアカデミー賞のひとつです。 [1]
この賞は1948年に制作された映画に対して1949年に初めて授与された。当初は白黒映画とカラー映画に別々の賞のカテゴリーが設けられていた。1967年に2つのカテゴリーが統合されて以来、アカデミーは伝統的に現代を舞台にした映画に賞を授与することを避けてきた。[2]
賞
アカデミー賞衣装デザイン賞は、映画芸術科学アカデミーが毎年、前年度の映画衣装デザインの最も優れた業績に対して授与する。この賞の対象となる映画は、衣装が衣装デザイナーによって「考案」されたという要件を含む一連の基準を満たす必要がある。この特定の基準では、各応募作品は投票プロセスの前にアートディレクター支部の衣装デザイナーのメンバーによって審査される。さらに、候補者は主要な衣装デザイナーのみであること、投票数が最も多い 5 本の映画が式典の最終投票の候補になること、最終投票はアカデミーの現役会員と終身会員のみが行うことなど、規則がある。[3]
歴史
アカデミー賞衣装デザイン賞は、1949年3月24日に開催された第21回アカデミー賞[4]で初めて授与されました。この賞には、白黒映画用とカラー映画用の2つのサブカテゴリーがありました。[5] 1958年3月26日に開催された第30回アカデミー賞では、これら2つのサブカテゴリーが1つに統合されました。[6]これは、アカデミーが競争部門の数を30から24に減らした結果です。[7]第32回アカデミー賞では、この部門は再び白黒映画とカラー映画の両方を表彰する2つに分割されました。[8] 8年後、アカデミー賞衣装デザイン賞は、他の2つの賞とともに、映画における功績を表彰する単一のカテゴリーに統合されました。[9]
1949年から1966年まで、アカデミー賞の白黒部門の衣装デザイン賞のほとんどは現代映画に与えられた。一方、カラー部門では叙事詩、ファンタジー、ミュージカルが主流だった。[10] 1967年にカラー映画部門が1つに統合されて以来、現代を舞台にした映画が受賞したのはわずか3回である。[11]現代を舞台にした受賞作3本は、『伯母さんとの旅』、『オール・ザット・ジャズ』、『プリシラの冒険』である。[11]この期間の他の受賞作はすべて、過去を舞台にしているか、SFやファンタジーを舞台にしていた。
