1972年のサンダウン250は、 グループEシリーズプロダクションツーリングカーの耐久レースでした。[1] 1972年9月10日にオーストラリアのビクトリア州サンダウンサーキットで130周、総距離250マイル（403 km） で開催されました。 [2]このレースは1972年のオーストラリア製造者選手権の第2ヒートでした。[2]
このレースは、フォード XY ファルコン GTHO フェーズ III を運転するジョン・ゴスが優勝しました。
クラス構造
1972年のオーストラリア製造者選手権のヒートとして、このレースは「容量価格単位」によって定義された4つのクラスで行われました。[3]各車のCP単位の値は、エンジン容量（リットル単位）とシドニー小売価格（オーストラリアドル単位） を掛けて評価されました。[3]
- クラスA：最大3,000CPユニット
- クラスB: 3,001～9,000 CPユニット
- クラスC：9,001～18,000CPユニット
- クラスD：18,000CPユニット以上[3]

Note: Of the 43 starters, 22 were classified as finishers and 2 completed insufficient laps to be classified.[2] The above table does not show all starters.
