Nu 1 Boötis

Nu ¹ Boötisは、北天のうしかい座にあるオレンジ色の星です。その名前は、ν ¹ Boötisをラテン語化したバイエル記号で、Nu ¹ Boo または ν ¹ Boo と略されます。この星の視等級は+5.02 で、^[²^]肉眼でかすかに見えるほど明るいです。年々の視差シフトに基づくと、地球から見ると3.35 masの明るさで、 ^{[ 1 ]}太陽から約970光年離れた位置にある。その距離では、星間塵による減光により、星の視等級は0.13減光される。^[¹⁰^]この星は-11.1 km/sの視線速度で太陽に近づいている。^[⁴^]

これは進化した K型巨星で、恒星分類はK4.5 IIIb Ba0.4です。^{[ 3 ]}「Ba0.4」という接尾辞は、これが弱いバリウム星であることを示しており、^{[ 11 ]}これは恒星大気が s過程元素によって強化されていることを意味します。おそらく現在軌道を周回している白色矮星の伴星によって供給されていると考えられます。^{[ 12 ]}この巨星成分は太陽の半径の99.8倍です。拡大した光球から太陽の2,054倍^{[ 6 ]}の光度を放射しており、有効温度は約3,917 Kです。 ^[⁷^]

プトレマイオスはうしかい座νをヘラクレス座と共有していると考えており、バイエルは両方の星座でν Boötis (ν Boo)とPsi Herculis (ψ Her)という名称を与えた。1930年に現代の星座の境界が確定すると、後者の名称は使用されなくなった。^{[ 13 ]}
