マイケル・ルートヴィヒ

ミヒャエル・ルートヴィヒ（1961年4月3日生まれ）は、オーストリアの社会民主党（SPÖ）の政治家である。2018年からオーストリアの首都であり最大の都市であるウィーンの市長兼知事を務めている。^{[ 1 ]}

ルートヴィヒはウィーンの第21区フロリツドルフで、公営住宅（ゲマインデバウ）に住んで育った。彼は、自身が政治的偶像としているSPÖ（オーストリア社会主義統一党）のブルーノ・クライスキー首相の政権下で育った。彼はウィーン大学で政治学と歴史を学び、1992年に当時の東ドイツの与党であったドイツ社会主義統一党に関する論文で博士号を取得した。^{[ 2 ]}

ルートヴィヒは、1994年から1995年までウィーンのフロリツドルフ地区の区議会議員として地方政治のキャリアをスタートさせた。1996年から1999年まで、オーストリア議会の上院である連邦参議院の代表を務めた。1999年にウィーン市議会と州議会に入会した。2007年1月、ルートヴィヒはミヒャエル・ホイプル市長（SPÖ）の下で住宅、建設、都市再生担当の市議会議員に任命され、ヴェルナー・ファイマンの後任となった。ルートヴィヒは2009年3月26日に第二副市長に就任した。 2010年の州議会選挙後に辞任し、緑の党のマリア・ヴァシラコウが後任となった。^{[ 3 ]}

2010年、ルートヴィヒはクルト・エーダーからSPÖフロリツドルフ支部の議長職を引き継いだ。2011年5月28日、彼はSPÖウィーン州党大会で5人の副議長の1人に選出された。2017年の連邦選挙を前に、ルートヴィヒはSPÖとオーストリア自由党（FPÖ）の連立政権の可能性に反対し、両党には共通点が少なすぎると主張した。^{[ 4 ]}

2017年、ハウプルは引退を発表し、州党大会でルートヴィヒが後任としてSPÖウィーン支部の議長に選出され、対立候補のアンドレアス・シーダーを破って代議員票の57％を獲得した。^{[ 5 ]}

On 24 May 2018, Ludwig succeeded Häupl as Mayor of Vienna, and was sworn in as Governor by President Alexander van der Bellen on 29 May 2018. In the 2020 Viennese state elections, Ludwig led the SPÖ to 41.62 per cent of the vote, an increase of 2.03 percentage points compared with the 2015 election. Despite gains by the Greens, the SPÖ's previous coalition partner, Ludwig opted to form a coalition with the liberal party NEOS, which received 7.47 per cent of the vote. On 17 November 2020, the first red-pink coalition in Austria was presented. Under this arrangement, the SPÖ retained six executive councillors, while the education portfolio was assigned to NEOS.^[6]

In October 2023, Ludwig announced his withdrawal from the federal bodies of the SPÖ. Political opponents and sections of the media interpreted this step as a sign of opposition to the party's federal chairman, Andreas Babler, an interpretation which Ludwig rejected.^[7] At the 2025 Viennese elections, Ludwig again stood as the SPÖ's lead candidate, with the party receiving 39.38 per cent of the vote, a decrease of 2.24 percentage points compared with 2020.^[8] Despite this being the SPÖ's second-worst result in Vienna since 1945, the party remained the largest group in the parliament by a significant amount, and the coalition with the NEOS continued.^[9]

In August 2018, Ludwig married his longtime partner Irmtraud Rossgatterer.^[10]
