ディカンテリウム属はイネ科イネ科の顕花植物の属である。一般にロゼットグラスやパニックグラスとして知られている。 ^[1]

かつてはPanicum属の亜属であったDichanthelium は、1974 年に属に昇格しました。^[2] 2 つの属は形状が非常に似ているため、一部の専門家は依然としてこの種をPanicumのメンバーとして扱っています。 ^{[3]分子データは、} Dichantheliumを別の属として認識することを支持しています。^[3]

ディカンテリウムという名前は、春と秋の成長段階にちなんで「二度開花する」という意味のギリシャ語に由来しています。 ^[4]

これらは多年生の草で、時には根茎を持つ。草は短く幅広い葉のロゼットとして冬を越し、春になると茎に長く幅広い葉をつける。数センチから1メートルを優に超える高さの中空の茎をつける。新しいうちは直立しているが、季節が進むにつれて広がったり、広がったり、曲がったりすることもある。上部の茎にはいくつかの主枝があり、穂をつける小さな枝に分かれる。穂には裂開受粉性の一次穂と閉開受粉性の二次穂がある。小穂はおよそ1～5ミリメートルの長さで芒はない。^[3]
