Combinatio nova は、略して comb. nov. ( n. comb.の場合もある) で、ラテン語で「新しい組み合わせ」を意味します。これは、既存の名前に基づいて新しい名前が導入されるときに、分類学の生物学文献で使用されます。この用語は、以前に名前が付けられていなかった種に使用されるspecie novaと混同しないでください。新しい組み合わせは、置き換えられた組み合わせに取って代わります。

- 分類群は別の属に移動される
- 種内分類群が別の種に移動される
- 分類群のランクが変更されます。
例
以前に命名された種が異なる属に割り当てられる場合、新しい属名はその種のと組み合わされます。たとえば、Calymmatobacterium granulomatisがKlebsiella granulomatisに改名されたとき、新しい組み合わせであることを示すためにKlebsiella granulomatis comb. nov.と呼ばれました。 [2]
