Netscape Web Server は、 Web 上でトランザクション指向のビジネス アプリケーションを開発および実行するための統合ソフトウェア プラットフォームでした。これは、Netscape が1997 年に買収したKiva Softwareによって最初に開発されました。
1999年にNetscapeとSun MicrosystemsがSun-Netscape Allianceを結成したとき、1998年にSunが買収したNetDynamics Application Server [1] [2]ではなく、 Netscape Web ServerがiPlanet Application Serverの基盤として選択されました。
